Gang Of Four

Легендарный пост-панк коллектив из Лидса Gang Of Four начал свое музыкальное шествие в далеком 1977 году. Молодые музыканты к этому моменту успели побывать в Нью Йорке, где не в безызвестном клубе CBGB под песнопения Television и The Ramones прониклись духом бунтарства и эстетикой панк рока. Вокалом в группе заведовал Jon King, Andy Gill выдавал взрывные гитарные звуки, бас-гитарой оперировал  Dave Allen и за барабанами сидел Hugo Burnham. Дебютная семерка "Damaged Goods" вышла уже в октябре 1978 и с момента её выхода началась череда интереснейших релизов группы, пусть и не возглавлявших хит парады, но оставивших неизгладимый след в истории независимой музыки. Политизированный пост панк грамотно заправленный элементами фанка, даба и регги быстро нашел своего слушателя. Очень хорошо Gang Of Four охарактеризовал Боно из U2, назвав их "Сильными, прямолинейными и отважными". За все это время группа не единожды распускалась и собиралась вновь, в первый раз в 1984 году, последующий период активности коллектива продлился с 1987 по 1997, а последний реюнион произошел в 2004 и по сей момент команда твердо стоит на ногах, а в 2016 порадовала поклонников новым альбомом. Из оригинального состава в Gang Of Four остался лишь один Andy Gill. В ряду своих главных вдохновителей лидских музыкантов не раз называли участники таких коллективов, как Rage Against The Machine, Minutemen, Fugazi, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails и Franz Ferdinand.
