Совсем не панк, но как любят говорить музыкальные обозреватели, граничащая с данным стилем группа The Jesus And Mary Chain - настоящие новаторы и экспериментаторы из пригорода Глазго. Команду собрали два брата Jim Reid и William Reid в 1982 году, остальные участники менялись довольно-таки регулярно. Оба брата совмещали обязанности вокало-гитаристов и порой обходились без живых барабанов ограничиваясь электронной драм машиной. Нойзовый саунд и мелодичный заунывный пост панковский вокал, довольно быстро пришлись по вкусу публике и критикам, последние даже пророчили братьям и компании роль новых Sex Pistols. Дебютный альбом "Psychocandy" музыкальной прессой был назван альбомом года, Rolling Stone занесли данную пластинку в список "500 величайших альбомов всех времён" на 269 место, а по версии журнала Q диску присвоили 88 место в списке лучших когда-либо выпускавшихся британских альбомов. К своему второму альбому группа отошла от своего фирменного звучания в сторону меланхоличного пост-панка и инди рока. К третьему альбому братья отказались уже и от живой бас-гитары, в итоге слишком синтезаторный звук был довольно негативно встречен и публикой и критиками, хотя сам диск содержал ставшую хитом «Head On». На этом парни не остановились и продолжили удивлять своих слушателей и дальше, так четвертый альбом был неожиданно выполнен в гитарном ключе, а последующий за ним Stoned & Dethroned можно назвать акустическим. Последний на данный момент альбом группы "Munki" увидел свет в 1998 году, после чего братья заявили об роспуске группы. В 2007 The Jesus And Mary Chain вновь вернулись на сцену.
