Madness

Madness один из ведущих коллективов возрождения ска музыки в Британии 80-х, эти парни по настоящему заслужили  славу и почесть, хотя к панк року имеют совсем косвенное отношение. В течении первой половины 80-х мало какой хит парад обходился без их творений. Madness начали свой тернистый путь к славе в 1977 году в Лондоне. Свое название парни позаимствовали из песни своего кумира Prince Buster'a, которому кстати и посветили свой первый сингл "Prince", вышедший в августе 1979 и поднявшийся на 16 строку UK Singles Chart.  Популярность группы росла на глазах, парни сперва появляются в программе Джона Пила, а затем и в телевизоре на Top of the Pops, после чего отправляются в тур в компании с The Specials и The Selecter. К дебютному альбому Madness успевают выпустить еще два коммерчески успешных сингла "One Step Beyond" и "My Girl" успешно занявших 7 и 3 строки UK Singles Chart. Не удивительно, что сам альбом выдался на столько удачным, что до сих пор его смело можно назвать одной из лучших пластинок конца 70-х. В принципе, как заметил кто-то из музыкальных критиков именно в нем музыканты достигли своего творческого пика, хотя вопрос довольно спорный. Пластинка открыла парням все дороги, все последующие синглы и альбомы группы вплоть до 83 года, были постоянными гостями различных чартов, а в UK Top 10 Singles Chart Madness попадали целых 17 раз. По популярности с парнями могли соперничать разве, что The Jam. Группа прекратила свою деятельность в 1986, но уже через два года вновь замаячила на музыкальном горизонте, когда выпустив пару синглов и альбом, снова залегла на дно, чтобы еще через почти пять лет, в 1992 вновь выйти на сцену, где довольно комфортно чувствуют себя и по сей день. Группа давным давно получила всеобщее признание, а 12 августа 2012 на Олимпийском стадионе в Лондоне на церемонии закрытия XXX летних Олимпийских игр, Madness исполнили песню «Our House».
