The Jam - флагманы движения mod revival и одна из самых успешных групп вышедших из первой волны панк рока. Команда собралась в 1975 году в Уокинге. После различных перетасовок состава, сформированный фундамент выглядел следующим образом - вокалист и по совместительству отличный гитарист Paul Weller, басист Bruce Foxton и барабанщик Rick Butler. Парни довольно быстро влились в набирающую силу панк сцену, уже в 1976 они разогревали Sex Pistols, а в 1977 году с интервалом в шесть месяцев выпустили два отличных альбома, поднявшихся до 20 и 22 строки в UK Albums Chart. Со временем группа стала терять связь с панк-роком и углубляться в более мелодичную и интеллектуальную музыку и скоро стала одной из ведущих групп Великобритании. Проиграли The Jam вплоть до 1982 года, когда на пике популярности объявили об роспуске коллектива. За это время музыканты успели выпустить шесть коммерчески успешных альбомов, последний из которых "The Gift" уверенно возглавил UK Albums Chart. Синглы группы также не вылазили из чартов, а четыре из них поднимались в UK Singles Chart на первое место. После роспуска The Jam, Weller собрал команду The Style Council, а в начале 90-х, занялся сольной карьерой, уверенно вернувшись в число ведущих британских исполнителей.
